Menstrual tampon, Russia, 1994

The Russian tampon below, from 1994, came wrapped in a thin, brown paper, most of which has disintegrated. The string is black.

Susie Hewson, president of Natracare all-cotton tampons and pads, kindly donated this specimen to your MUM, saying women could only buy it in Moscow. She does not hold it in high regard.

See some early tampons from the United States, and a recent one from Japan. And, of course, (un)Rely(able).
