More Japanese tampons: Anshin (1977), Shampon Young (1977) & Elldy (with finger cots, 1990s). Japanese MENSTRUAL BELTS ads, how to make JAPANESE WASHABLE MENSTRUAL PADS (both early 20th century)

The former Tambrands, which made Tampax tampons, kindly donated the box and contents as part of a fabulous gift of hundreds of menstrual products.

Below: I detached and riiiipped open one of the capsules, which are made
of a shiny paper. The tampon lies rubbing its eyes after its 40-year slumber.
Below: The string comes packed around a mysterious hole, which seems ready to receive a stick as in the Kotex stick tampon and in one of Japan's own 'pons (another came with finger cots!). But no sticks came with the box. It's possible someone in the donor's staff (Tambrands) removed them.
Below: The business end of the tampon.

Below: The cotton plug measures about 1 1/2 x 0.5" (3.6 x 1.3 cm), the string about 3" (7.5 cm) long.
