Home Exercises
(1915?)
Complete booklet

One of many marketing devices the Pinkham company created during its long life (others included trade cards, sewing kits, a health-advice book), "Home Exercises" actually gives advice valid today: Exercise and don't overeat!

But the main point was of course to sell the company's medicines, of more questionable value.

Interspersed with exercise instructions lurked letters from happy consumers of the Vegetable Compound, Liver Pills, Blood Medicine and Sanative Wash, a compound for vaginal douching. Readers could write these ladies who claimed to benefit from the several cures, a change from earlier days brought about by skeptics who wondered if these satisfied patients existed. The company accumulated thousands of testimonies . (Read what the company itself said about this.)

I dated the pamphlet (1915)by a sentence in the ads on the inside back cover.

Below: Back cover. The booklet measures 4 1/4 x 6 7/8" (11 x 17.5 cm).

Front cover.
As I scanned the ratty booklet it fell apart, thus the askew covers, below.
