o.b. menstrual tampons
Belgian o.b. menstrual tampon ad: women on a beach (probably 1980s)

Ads featuring women in bathing gear mean to show that tampons, carried inside the body, don't scream to anyone within a short distance that the bearer has her period, a sin in America and a slightly lesser offense in much of Europe. Big pads would scream as well as soak up water and maybe leak menses, worsening the crime.

Instead of covering up the women's menstrual regions with a shirt, a towel and loose pants - the ad seems to have missed an opportunity - the French, as expected, showed the invisibility of the tampon in a white suit, tempting fate, perhaps.

The woman in the center has some major skin damage unless that's a printing defect. I hope it is. But it's a color suited to the theme.
